2017 Sexauer FT-0-C
#2660117

A third guitar for my customer and friend, Robert Berger

This is a vintage inspired Martin-esque single 0 with a few small twists. The body is 1/4" longer than Martin's, and the neck is another 1/4" longer, which keeps things in proportion for the string length, which is 1/2" longer than Martin's, being 25.4" rather than their 24.9". Also, this guitar has a cutaway as well as a 1/4" body wedge, though it is traditional on the centerline. The slothead is hand carved with pre-1930 detailing, and has a traditional torch with a little more perspective thrown into it. Rather than Ivory or the more common "Ivoroid" (plastic) binding, we have used Cocobolo sapwood. The bridge pins and tuner buttons were made from the identical piece of material by luthier Burton LeGeyt. The Brazilian rosewood is the single most perfectly quartersawn set I have ever owned, I believe, and Bob spent some hours with me in the shop when we chose it.

  • Brazilian Rosewood back and sides
  • German Spruce top (Martin Guhl)
  • Honduras Mahogany neck
  • Cocobolo binding
  • Ebony fingerboard and Pyramid bridge
  • Bird's beak head graft
  • Greven Tortis PG
  • Torch head inlay
  • Long Diamond FB inlays
  • Waverly Machines
  • LeGeyt tuner buttons/bridge pins
  • HotHideGlue where possible
  • Varnish finish
  • Visesnut Case
